Project Overview
As more stakeholders across engineering, business, and leadership became involved in projects, it became clear that we needed a better way to keep everyone aligned. After the success of a one-pager I created for a previous project, I was asked to expand the idea — creating a series of internal project overviews to bring visibility and consistency across multiple teams.
The Problem
As projects scale, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep all contributors informed. Teams were relying on scattered documentation, verbal updates, and outdated decks, making alignment and handoffs inconsistent.
As the UI Designer / Documentation Lead
Defined a reusable one-pager structure for five teams under my director
Audited an existing format used by one team and improved clarity and visual hierarchy
Designed the layouts in Figma, and adapted the content for Confluence when account access changes removed Figma as a viable option
Collaborated with each team to gather accurate project, roadmap, and skillset details
Solutions & Outcomes
Project info was scattered or inconsistent
Key Design Solutions
Challenges
Design Solutions
Teams had different communication styles and needs
Existing team doc was dense and hard to navigate
Standardized structure while allowing customization per team
Conducted a design audit and applied UI principles for hierarchy and readability
Created a single, scannable page with all key context in one place
Outcome
Delivered one-pagers for 5 cross-functional teams under the CIP Department
Helped team leads and stakeholders stay aligned on current and future projects
Provided a go-to resource during handoffs, onboarding, and strategy discussions
Established a flexible framework for team-level communication at scale
Figma prototypes became inaccessible without an account
Shifted final one-pagers to Confluence to ensure universal access
Reflection
This project reminded me that design isn’t just about screens — it’s about clarity. I was honored that my original one-pager was valued enough to expand into a department-wide initiative. It reinforced how even internal design work can have a big impact when it helps people stay aligned and informed. I also appreciated the challenge of adapting and quickly grasping how different teams operate and communicate across the organization.
"Satoko created a one-pager that was so clear, useful, and well-designed, we immediately knew it could benefit more than just one team. She took the initiative to scale it thoughtfully across the department, tailoring each version to the team’s needs. Her attention to detail and ability to bring structure to complex information made a real difference."
